Biography
Rudra earned his bachelor’s degree in Linguistics in 2014. Thereafter he began a seven-year adventure working as a data analyst, software engineer, and eventual consultant; journeying across the United States as a result. Through a combo of professional and personal experiences he saw the impacts of disparate access to healthcare and employment opportunities and resultant societal outcomes play out in urban and rural areas alike, sparking a passion that would eventually lead him back to academia.
As a graduate student, Rudra hopes to research the social determinants of population health and conflict here in the US and abroad; focusing particularly on the impacts of deindustrialization/diminished economic opportunity and familial structural shifts on reproductive health, suicide, and/or political violence.
Rudra chose Baylor University for the collegial environment, class sizes, and clear focus on collaboration between faculty and graduate students; notably the focus of the faculty on making graduate students strong, cogent publishers of original research in their chosen fields of interest. He is deeply excited to begin his new journey at Baylor.
