Biography
Meagan earned her BA from Baylor University in May 2021, graduating with a degree in Sociology with a concentration in Health. She served as an academic tutor for student athletes at Baylor during her time there as well, using her skills in sociology to assist her students.
As a first-year Community Analytics student, Meagan has research interests in unconventional family structures and their effects on children and adolescents, COVID-19 vaccination rates and general population opinions, and the effects of poverty in rural areas.
Meagan chose Baylor University’s Sociology Ph.D. program for a number of reasons. Some of these include the collaborative environment that the program provides, the emphasis on publication and conducting research, and the ability to teach classes with assistance from the already established professors in the department. She plans to work with her other Community Analytics colleagues at the Community Center for Research and Development department within the Sociology program; tackling modern research topics and analyzing new research provided by the GSS and Baylor Religion Surveys. This work will include gathering data among populations sampled, conducting research with other Community Analytics colleagues, and presenting research to peers and colleagues at future conferences; all of which will aid in honing her sociological research skills.
